It Is A Lot Easier Than You Think
First things first: do not overthink this.
You do not need to be a graphic designer, know fancy computer programs or understand every file type on the internet to order a custom badge.
You tell us what you want it to say, send us the graphic you want to use, pick your colors and we put everything together into a mockup for you to look at before you order.
This page walks you through the whole thing. Read through it once and you will probably realize this is much easier than your brain was trying to make it.

Size & Shape
Our custom badges are approximately 2.4" round and designed to fit perfectly in the factory badge spot.
At this time, this is the only size and shape we offer.
Keeping one standard size and shape keeps the custom badge process simple and consistent.
Artwork
You provide the artwork, logo or graphic you want featured on your badge.
Do not panic about this part. We are going to make it very easy below.
1-Year Warranty
Every badge comes with our 1-year no-questions-asked warranty.
If your badge needs to be replaced during that first year, there is no replacement cost and no shipping cost.

After the first year, Mother Nature gets a vote.
Refresh your badge anytime for a flat $10, shipping included.
Step 1 — What Do You Want It To Say?
Start with the easy part. Tell us exactly what wording you want on your badge.
- Top wording.
- Bottom wording or 4x4.
- Your vehicle's name.
- A funny, bold, meaningful or personal phrase.
- Your font choice from dafont.com, or just tell us to use our standard font.
Please double-check your spelling before you send it.
We copy and paste your wording exactly as you send it to us. Names, numbers, coordinates, weird nicknames your friends gave your vehicle, all of it.
If you send us TRAIL QUEEN, we use TRAIL QUEEN. If you accidentally send TRAIL QWEEN, well... that is what your mockup is going to say.
Step 2 — Find Your Artwork
This is the part people make way harder than it needs to be. Let us fix that.
Do not overthink your artwork. A good-quality PNG works for us about 90% of the time.
You do not need special software. You do not need to know what a vector is. You do not need to suddenly become a graphic designer because you decided you wanted a cool badge.
If you already have a logo or graphic you want to use, perfect. Send us the best version you have.
If you do not have artwork yet, finding something is usually pretty easy.
Search online for what you want and add PNG to the end.
Want mountains? Search mountain PNG. Want a skull? Search skull PNG. Sunflower, compass, dog, palm tree, sasquatch, flamingo, whatever is living in your head. Search the thing plus PNG.
When you find something you like, save or download the actual image file to your phone or computer. Pick the biggest, clearest version you can find.
We cannot use screenshots.
We know taking a screenshot is easy. Unfortunately, screenshots do not give us the actual artwork file we need. Please save or download the image itself.
Not This
Do not send us your artwork already built into a finished round badge design.
We need the graphic itself. We take care of putting it into our standard badge layout.
Send Us This
Send the actual standalone graphic you want featured on your badge.
That might be a logo, animal, mountains, mascot, vehicle graphic, banner, flower, skull, flag or whatever else fits your idea.
If wording or a banner is actually part of the graphic, that is totally fine. We just need the artwork by itself instead of already sitting inside a completed badge.
You can also send us a mockup as a reference if it helps show what you have in mind. Just remember, the mockup shows us the idea. The standalone graphic is what we need from you.
What File Should You Send?
Again, do not make this harder than it is. PNG is usually your friend.
Good Files
- High-resolution PNG.
- High-resolution JPG.
- SVG.
- AI.
- EPS.
- Vector PDF.
Files We Cannot Use
- Screenshots.
- Finished badge mockups.
- Watermarked images.
- Very small images.
- Blurry or distorted artwork.
The bigger and cleaner the artwork, the better.
A tiny blurry image does not suddenly become crisp because we really believe in it. Send us the best version you can find.
Using Canva, Procreate, ChatGPT Or AI?
Totally fine. We just need you to send us the right part when you are done.
You can create your artwork in Canva, Procreate, ChatGPT, another AI program or whatever design program you like.
Just export the graphic itself. We do not need the whole finished round badge mockup.
If you are using AI, try this:
“Create the graphic only. No badge mockup, no circle badge, no outer border, no bottom wording or 4x4 section, and no extra badge layout. Keep only the subject artwork and any banner or text that is part of the actual graphic. Transparent background if possible.”
If the program gives you the option to save as a high-resolution PNG, that is usually a great choice.
And if you are staring at the file thinking, “I have absolutely no idea if this is what they want,” email it to Orders@Custom4x4Badges.com .
We will tell you if it works. No computer degree required.
Step 3 — Pick Your Colors
Keep it simple, add a little color or go all in. This is where your badge starts feeling like yours.

One thing that trips people up: white on the mockup means metal.
If an area of your badge mockup is white, that is showing you where the metal of the badge will be visible. It does not mean that area will be printed white.
You can see exactly what we mean in the example above.
If you want a specific color, send us the HEX or CMYK code if you have one.
That gives us something much more useful to work from than “blue, but not too blue, kind of like my vehicle when the sun hits it.”
We cannot match automotive paint colors.
Vehicle paint and badge color are two different processes, so paint codes do not translate directly to the finished badge.
Colors can also look different from one screen to another, so an exact screen-to-finished-product match cannot be guaranteed.
If you need a certain shade, send us the closest HEX or CMYK color code you want us to use.
Step 4 — Send Everything Over
You have the idea. You have the artwork. Now send us the pieces and we will put your mockup together.
Email everything to Orders@Custom4x4Badges.com .
- Your final artwork file.
- The exact top wording.
- The exact bottom wording or 4x4.
- Your font choice from dafont.com, or tell us to use our standard font.
- Your color choices.
- HEX or CMYK color codes if you have specific colors.
- Any important layout notes.
- A reference mockup if you made one.
Mockups are typically sent within 2–3 business days.
We work through requests in the order they arrive. The more complete your email is, the less time we spend emailing back asking, “Okay... but what did you want on the bottom?”
Step 5 — Check Your Mockup
This is your badge, so this is the part where we need you to really look at it.
We send a mockup before you order for one very simple reason: we are human too.
We can make mistakes, miss something, misunderstand a note or type something wrong.
Your badge is just that: your badge. You know what the wording is supposed to say, what the colors should look like and where everything belongs better than anyone else.
So when your mockup arrives, please double-check it. Then triple-check it.
Look at the spelling, top wording, bottom wording or 4x4, artwork, colors and overall layout.
Once you approve the mockup and place your order, no changes can be made.
We make the badge you approve.
If the approved mockup has a spelling mistake, wrong wording, wrong number, wrong color choice or anything else that was approved as shown, the finished badge will match that approved mockup.
If you receive your badge and later realize something on the approved mockup was wrong, a new badge will need to be purchased.
We are not trying to scare you with this part. We just want you to take an extra minute before hitting approve.
It is much easier to fix something on a mockup than after the badge is already done.
Once everything looks right, approve the mockup and we will send you the link to place your custom badge order.
Mockups are kept on file for 2 weeks.
If you wait longer than that to order, we may need to start the mockup process again.
Step 6 — Place Your Order
Once the mockup is approved and your order is placed, you are officially in the queue.
Custom orders are handled in the order they are received.
During busy periods, please allow up to 5 business days before your order ships.
Larger orders may take a little longer. There are, tragically, still only so many hours in a day.
Need it for an event, trip or special date? Please plan ahead.
Paying for faster shipping makes the package travel faster after it leaves us. It does not launch your order to the front of the custom-order line.
Step 7 — Watch For Tracking
Once your badge is headed your way, we will let you know.
You will receive tracking when your order ships so you can obsessively refresh the carrier page like the rest of us do.
The available shipping options for your order will be shown during checkout.
Remember, faster shipping changes transit time after the package leaves us. It does not change the custom-order processing time.
Step 8 — Put It On & Show It Off
You did all that work picking the perfect badge. Now do not slap it on crooked.
- Clean the area really well with basic soap and water or alcohol.
- Hold the badge in place before removing the adhesive backing.
- Take a step back and make sure you like the placement.
- Remove the adhesive backing.
- Line the badge up carefully.
- Press it firmly into place.
- Stand back and admire your excellent life choices.
- Take a picture and tag @Custom4x4Badges so we can see it too.
We Stand Behind Your Badge
Your badge lives outside. Sun, rain, mud, road grime and Mother Nature are not known for respecting anybody's nice things, so we keep our policy simple.
First Year: We've Got You
Every Custom4x4Badges badge comes with our 1-year no-questions-asked warranty. If your badge needs to be replaced during that first year, there is no replacement cost and no shipping cost.
After That: $10 Shipped
After the first year, our Lifetime Refresh Program lets you refresh your badge anytime for a flat $10, shipping included. Mother Nature takes a toll. You should not have to buy a whole new badge at full price because of it.
